MUGLER X GENTLE MONSTER COLLABORATION: A FUSION OF CREATIVE ARTISTRY AND INNOVATION

The Mugler x Gentle Monster collaboration integrates Mugler’s unique heritage and contemporary signature spiral details with Gentle Monster’s aesthetics, resulting in two unique silhouettes. The collection consists of Spiral 01, which conveys an intense energy from its geometric design inspired by a modern exploration of Mugler’s ‘Fourmis’ eyewear first introduced as part of the House’s 1997 ‘Les Insectes’ haute couture collection; it is launched alongside Spiral 02, which stands out with a contemporary edge, featuring embossed line details and a chrome logo on the temples. Spiral 01 and Spiral 02 reflect the precision and artistry that define both collaborators, setting a new standard for eyewear. The collection also extends its innovative spirit to its packaging design, which explores both organic and structural forms to convey a modern and forward-thinking vision. Mugler x Gentle Monster represents a true testament to the commitment of pushing the boundaries of design.

Starring Colin Jones and Georgia Palmer, lensed by creative Theo Liu, the Mugler x Gentle Monster campaign pays homage to iconic visual innovators such as Helmut Newtown and Manfred Thierry Mugler.

The Mugler x Gentle Monster collection is set for release July 18th, and will be sold through Mugler and Gentle Monster’s official online and offline stores as well as select multi-brand shops globally. Celebrating the collection, special activations will be held in Seoul and Shanghai. These ephemeral spaces will demonstrate the powerful identities of the two brands through the movement of a kinetic structure, expressing the boldness and dynamism of Mugler and Gentle Monster.

LEWIS HAMILTON, A SEVEN-TIME FORMULA 1 WORLD CHAMPION, BECOMES A DIOR MEN AMBASSADOR AND A GUEST DESIGNER FOR A CAPSULE COLLECTION

Creative dialogue with artistic director Kim Jones and the Dior Ateliers has led to an exceptional combination between outdoor culture and the finesse of French savoir-faire. The lifestyle capsule unites function and decoration, the day-to-day and technical approaches.

New casual suiting in traditional Dior tweeds as well as new African weaves is offset against slouchy denim, knits, sweats, and fleeces. The pieces are made partly of organic or recycled textiles, embracing the sustainability and technical rigour of Japanese skiwear. This equips the wearer with ultimate protection from the extreme cold. The same approach goes to the accessories: highly technical POC protective gear developed in Sweden and the «Neo Artisanal» custom snowboards of the Swiss Factory 9. The Dior Snow Derbys are adapted to the snow. This specially developed, multi-layered, micro-fiber snow sneaker is casual while technically able to be worn and perform with a board on the slopes. The new Dior Zipped Backpack is realised in ultra-resilient fabrics together with high-functional elan inside and out.

«Focusing on conscious choices and pushing boundaries with each piece, while merging inspiration from my roots in Africa—drawing from their fabrics and belief in natural materials, as well as vibrant colours and powerful energy—has been so inspiring,» says Lewis Hamilton.

DSQUARED2‘S ACCESSORY OF THE SEASON: THE NEW BOXER SNEAKERS

With a retro asthetic, the Boxer sneaker is a must-have in the Dsquared2 collection. Constructed from suede and calf leather, it features six stripes on the sides and rubber soles. The Boxer is highly versatile: it can be styled with jeans and a T-shirt, or even with suits and dresses. On closer inspection, the Boxer reveals its Dsquared2 signature elements: a maple leaf on the back leather pull tab, the names of the designers, Dean and Dan, embroidered above the stripes, and the Dsquared2 logo on the tongue and the soles, available in white or honey-colored options. Designed for both men and women, the Boxer offers a refined, clean look.

The Pre-Fall color selection includes white-on-white, black-and-white, and all-black versions, with shades inspired by Canada’s autumn scenery. Hues like forest green, saffron, sky blue, russet red, salmon pink, and violet appear in the sneaker’s soft suede upper, while other versions are made from washed leather and feature contrasting trims in white, navy, dark red, or green. The Boxer sneaker will be released in July 2024 on Dsquared2.com, in Dsquared2 stores, and at select retailers.

DR. MARTENS x NINE INCH NAILS THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL COLLECTION

A physical response to and celebration of Nine Inch Nails’ visceral, ground-breaking album. Thirty years later, The Downward Spiral remains a significant cultural milestone. Acclaimed as a masterpiece upon its release, this intense soundscape delves into some of the darkest themes, depicting a descent that strips away the central figure’s beliefs, ideas, and ego, revealing raw vulnerability. It is both ferocious and transgressive, an immersive and deeply personal musical statement that resonated with millions. The album offers a cathartic examination of the inevitable emptiness that comes from self-destructive behavior.

Few artists can claim to have crafted something born from despair that connects so powerfully with a vast audience. This esteemed musical monolith is now honored with a unique DM’s collection, a tribute to the darkness that generates light, featuring some of Doc’s most striking silhouettes.

“This collaboration just makes so much sense. Not just because of the countless fans I’ve seen wearing Dr. Martens at NIN concerts over the years (myself included), but because NIN and Dr. Martens are both known for rejecting convention and expectation in favour of innovation, with their distinctive ability to transcend genres and styles in a way that unique to each person who experiences them. The goal was always to make this collection feel as authentically Nine Inch Nails as possible, and I believe through close collaboration with the team at Doc’s we’ve succeeded in that.”

— John Crawford, Creative Director, Nine Inch Nails
